Electronic Arts’ CFO Eric Brown recently spoke at a conference in New York, and their upcoming MMO The Old Republic came up. Obviously trying to squash some of the recent negativity online, he mentioned how they plan to have The Old Republic around for a very long time. Eurogamer has the quotes:
“Our assumptions for break-even and profitability are not seven digit subscribers. We think we can run and operate a very successful and profitable MMO at different levels.
“The key thing here is to really perfect the product. We’re shooting for an extremely high quality game experience. We view this as a 10 year opportunity.”
The Old Republic is currently in a very secretive closed beta test and is due to be out sometime in 2011.
