$1300 Premium Edition Resident Evil 6 in Japan

The news of a 1300$ game just blows my mind. I think this is a little out of hand. I wouldn’t pay 1300$ for a system and they have the guts to sell a game for that! Oh well I guess someone in Japan will want to buy it. I am sure there are some in America that are grabbing for their wallets.  Resident Evil releases on Oct. 4th of this year in Japan. Which means on Oct. 5th the Japanese will be homeless and hungry…or maybe not.

PlayStation 4: Hopeful for Release in 2012

How can Sony make a huge impact on both Microsoft and Nintendo? Well for starters releasing a system that will be far more advanced in software and hardware could help. Sony made a statement when the PlayStation 3 released. That statement was simple. Our console is superior. They did however have some huge set backs in early launch from Online features to the insane price tag. However this time around they have a chance to move smoothly into the next generation console. Some of the key things that will set them ahead this time around.

PlayStation 4 Key Sales Pitches:
1. Body can act as controller
2. Voice Command feature
3. Most Advanced Hardware and Software
4. Exclusive’s
5. Price Tag(Consumer Friendly Price on Release)

PlayStation 4 Must Have Features:
1. An Improved Online Experience(Better than Xbox Live)
2. More to offer from PlayStation Network
3. A Redesigned Controller(Make Navigation a Breeze)

Sony has a chance to get ahead of Microsoft early. Nintendo has a great console releasing, but Sony can be dominant just in exclusive titles. They have a superior system in the PS3, but modern console design and hardware will boost sales. Sony has at least a couple years to build a community around PS4. They could be way ahead of Microsoft without much effort. I hope the price tag will be reasonable. I waited for a long time to get a PS3 because price was insane. The consumer looks at price as much as game selection. Offer both at reasonable prices and boom sales boost. Also could we see a lock out on resale for PS4? I mean Capcom has lead the way. We already pay extra for multiplayer, maps, and expansions.

Pandora’s Tower

The game uses 8 save blocks. I repeat. The game uses 8 save blocks.

(Note: There’s no particular reason why I repeated that).

Next, the commercial that was shared at the game’s official site today.

Next next, a scan from the game’s pamphlet.

See that text next to Ceres? It says “Can you continue to love me even when I’m like this?” It’s the same dialogue that Ceres says at the beginning of the commercial.

If you’ll recall, the first teaser from the game earlier this year showed a similar statement from Ceres, only it wasn’t clear what it meant. Of course, we now know that Ceres is slowly losing her humanity after having been inflicted with a mysterious curse. She’s asking if you can still love her even as she transforms into beast form.

I say cheer Ceres up by giving her a carrot!

Next next next, another image from the game’s pamphlet:

The screens to the lower right shows what happens to Ceres over time as the curse takes over. During gameplay, you can keep track of Ceres’ fall to beast form via the gauge in the lower left of the screen. If she gets too beastly, you’ll want to exit the current tower you’re progressing through and give her some of the flesh you’ve obtained from the beasts that roam the tower.

There are different types of flesh — or perhaps meat is the correct term. From left to right in the above diagram, there’s dry meat fragment, beast meat, dripping meat and pulsing meat. Dry meat has the lowest effect on recovering Ceres. The pulsing meat is most effective.

Finally (or next, next, next, next), the the game’s review score. Famitsu’s four reviewers gave the game a 7, 7, 9 and 8. Praise included good tempo, lots of extra stuff to do, and the match between the nunchuck and chain actions. The reviewers were apparently not so enamored by the game’s visuals.

A $38,000 NES Cartridge?…

Yesterday, we posted about a $6,500 NES cartridge currently for sale on eBay. That particular cartridge was quite rare, but not nearly as rare as another cartridge currently up for sale, one going for a whopping $38,000.

The cartridge in question this time is Family Fun Fitness: Stadium Events, a game so outrageously rare that it easily constitutes the most valuable actually-released NES game on the enthusiast market. Of course, there’s an interesting story behind Family Fun Fitness: Stadium Events, and one that warrants an explanation.

Do you remember the NES-era peripheral known as the Power Pad? The Power Pad was released by Nintendo in 1988, and it was packaged with the game World Class Track Meet. Power Pads and copies of World Class Track Meet are incredibly common. What aren’t so common are the Power Pads and World Class Track Meet cartridges that were released by the original minds behind the game and peripheral at Bandai.

In North America, Family Fun Fitness: Stadium Events was released to limited stores and in limited numbers in 1987. The game was hard to find, and was only on the market in that form for a very brief time before Nintendo bought the rights to the game and released it on its own. And thus, copies of Family Fun Fitness: Stadium Events are exceedingly rare, and exceedingly expensive.

And the one on eBay right now? It’s sealed, thoroughly increasing its value.

So who’s going to add this game to his or her rare games collection?

Nintendo UK Manager Named Chairman

Organisers of the annual Edinburgh Interactive have today announced that David Yarnton, General Manager for Nintendo UK, has become Chairman for the event.

“Britain has always celebrated diversity in creativity and culture; The Edinburgh Festival is recognised the world over as a melting pot of creativity and fun with people travelling from all corners of the globe to be inspired by the free thought that flourishes in the Scottish Capital,” Yarnton comments. “Edinburgh Interactive is proud to hold true to the traditions and philosophies of what Edinburgh is all about, to encourage the discussion and exploration of Interactive Entertainment in a more Cultural and Philosophical environment whilst celebrating our development as a contemporary, modern and creative industry.”

He continues, “It has been the perfect backdrop for the discussion and exploration of new ideas and partnerships in games and a unique landscape which positions games as much a part of the Arts as film, television, theatre, comedy and the irreverence of the Fringe.”

Edinburgh Interactive delivers a lively schedule from a wide range of industry sectors including games, social networking, mobile entertainment, education, music, film and television. It also plays host to the popular Games Screening programme.

“Edinburgh Interactive is a valuable industry asset but it can of course do more and should be constantly evolving,” Yarnton closes. “I have always been a strong supporter of Edinburgh Interactive as it is a truly bi-partisan event that celebrates all the diversity that is good with our industry and leaves egos at the door. It is an honour to take on the role of Chairman as I have been left a great legacy of involvement and commitment from Chris Deering who is still thankfully an active supporter.”

Edinburgh Interactive 2011 is due to take place between August 11th/ 12th 2011.

Nintendo Magazine March 12th Issue

That’s right, Nintendo fans! It’s time to start up those hype engines. I think there’s good reason to rev ’em up, too.

Last month, the Official Nintendo Magazine teased a big reveal for its next issue. Typically, details were scarce, but the publication promised it had “something very special lined up” and that readers should keep their collective eyes peeled for the March 12 release date.

Now, Nintendo of America has officially invited select members of the press to its Q1 Media Summit event, set to kick off February 24 in San Francisco. “Please join us for a full day of presentations, demos and hands-on gameplay,” the invite reads.

For your consideration, some big Nintendo games on the horizon include Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, and the next Legend of Zelda offering. We’d be surprised if the Big N spoiled the Zelda surprise before the Electronic Entertainment Expo, but we would not be at all shocked if Mario or Samus made an appearance at the event, particularly given both titles are more likely to be released this year than Link’s next. Also, Nintendo recently updated the official Metroid website with a new focus on Other M.
